I am going to be swapping my 87 N/A witha 5.3l. I Wanted to know which trans would be good for that engine, or if there is adapter plates for the manual 5spd. Also what other parts would i need? ECU, Fab the motor mounts, what else?

I'd say more experience
usually you need a complete donor vehicle to swap the drive train over , yes you would need the ECU or pcm
Id first check into if you can legally do it in your state ,not to mention the feds ( I SAID DONT MENTION IT)
,the insurance implications

Well, i live in florida so pretty much anything is legal, also yes i know id need a full donor car, but which car would be the cheapest/best option?

A engine swap with a turbo z31 is my bet
the v8 will need many mods ,steering a problem ,about anything is better than a 5.3L
you should ask your insurance co tell them what you want to do and inquire of the cost to insure .
If your doing it for off road ,go crazy I guess , although recently I saw an article that a law passed that banned any increase in emmissions even in racing for passenger cars

For an LS swap in a Z31 you need the Motor, Transmission, Full Wiring harness or custom harness, ECM, Low Profile Intake like from a Camaro/firebird or corvette, LS1 Oil pan from F body 99-2002 and then Mounts for all items.

Dirty Dingo makes a mount kit for the engine but you still need to fabricate everything else.
