Anyone ever try a Sankei oil pressure sender?

Found some on ebay for $30. Very tempted but wanted to know if anyone here has tried one.

I would try it. I never had any luck with the OEM senders. They have always read low so you can't trust 'em. Let us know if the Sankei fits and works right!

iwithnell, sounds good. A Z31 with no work to do is boring! So, include our Z31 guys in your work and post your issues here as you find them. Start a new thread or two and be sure to include photos. They bring us right to your Z and make it easier to help.

Your Z will return the favors for all the work you put into it. Z31s are like magic.

Holding my breath, Zuph... waiting for the results

You're right about removing the old one. I did it by hand, no wrench. Was surprised how easy it was to turn. (CCW)

Yep. Pretty as a peach. Let us know what it reads on the gauge when you're on the highway at, say, 3000 rpm... That will be info worth your cost and labor...

Put it on finaly!!

I installed the Sankei sender, everything went ok. plug fit right on and even the rubber boot cliped into place! The pic shows the pressure with the engine cold on startup running for about 1 min. After i drive around for about 30 mins the needle falls below the 30psi notch about halfway from 0-30. what u guys think?

Look in the FSM

Factory specs for oil pressure at specific RPMs are in the FSM. I would also be concerned that your temp gauge is still pegged on the low end of the scale after running the engine for 30 minutes.

ya, ill check the fsm to match some numbers. And ya the oil temp gauge is low because im using a sender unit from an 81 280zx turbo i found in the junkyard. screws in the oil pan correctly, but there is definitely a ohm resistance difference.
