This may have been covered before, but my searches came up empty.

Does anybody know if there is a 6 speed borg warner transmission that will bolt up to a 300zx z31. I've put 5 speed borg warner tranny on 3.2L L28 stroker in a 240z before, had to shorten the drive shaft though.

Maybe. All manual drive z31 turbo cars, model year 1984 through 1986, came with a Nissan manufactured BW T-5 transmission, Nissan model FS5R90A. BW has since sold the T-5 design to Tremec. The Tremec T-56 is a 6 speed version of the original T-5. I do not know if the T-56 will bolt up to an old T-5 bellhousing from a '84-86 z31 or if the input shaft can be swapped. This is where I would start looking.

The other alternative is the Nissan 6-speed tranny out of a Z33, which uses the VQ V6 engine, You have to figure out if there is a difference between the bolt pattern of a VG and VQ engine.

I forgot the S15 used an Aisen 6 speed manual (Nissan model FS6R92A). I don't think the S15 version of the 240SX was sold in the States, but I would guess JDM suppliers are importing the tranny. Read the attached article.
