1985 300ZX - Headlight Ghost
For whatever reason, when running or parked my driver's side headlight will just all of a sudden come on without being switched on, is this a bad ground?? Fuses are fine and when the the headlights are switched on, they pop up and work fine, and only the driver's headlight does this?? To remedy the situation I can fiddle with the turn signal arm and it stops, and maybe a realted problem when my left turn signal is turned on it flashes very quickly, but does work okay, the right turn signal flashes and operates normally??
Any suggestions??

Re: 1985 300ZX - Headlight Ghost
it could be the switch on the column. those are a common problem on these cars. You can remove and clean it - that may help, or find a good one at a junkyard or buy a new one.
there is a diagram in the haynes manual telling you at which positions you should have continuity. use that to test the switch.

Sorry for this stupid response, but this switch you are refering to, where exactly is it located, once I take off the steering column?? Buying a used one, exactly what is it I need? I do of course have the Haynes manual, which I have found a requirement for this car,

The switch i'm talking bout is the one on the column. pull steering wheel and 2 tiny phillips hold it into the center stalk.
look at the back of it and you'll see a thin rectangular yellowish piece. pry that off (carefully) and you'll see where the contacts are. try using a business card to clean with as sandpaper is too harsh.
hope this helps
