I'm new and I just bought a 1987 300zx GL NA and I love this car so far... I paid 2000 bucks for it from a dealer. Has 177,000 miles (kinda high milage, maybe not for these cars but I dont know), no dents/rips/tears... nothing cosmetically wrong besides usual wear and tear on the interior. They sold it to me for half KBB/their marked price for some reason... but I found out why. The ******** had failed to mention the things that were wrong with it, but no biggie, easy fixes. Arching spark plug, AC not working... stuff like that.
Arching spark plugs = new spark plug wires (fixed!).
AC not working = Took off dash and found 2 vaccum hoses not hooked up so I hooked them back up (fixed!)
But my next big task is to find out why the power laggs so much when taking off from 1st gear... I hope to hell its nothing major.

check your coil, plugs, cap, rotor, air and fuel filter. stuff you should do whenever you buy a used car. after you have checked those few things out, we can start on diagnosing the easy stuff like sensors.
i don't expect it will be anything major.
i hate KBB. it says that is worth $4000? and it says that the Z32 is only worth $3200? hate it so much.
that mileage really isn't that high. if it's been well taken care of, and you continue to take care of it, it won't be unreasonable to shoot for 280-300K.

Good luck with your "new" Z. You can download a FSM (factory service manual) at: http://www.xenonz31.com/reference.html
Any records of when the timing belt has been changed?
Make that your number one priority.
Check to see if the safety campaign work has been done in regards to
the injectors too.

The oil pump and the timing belt are not related issues.
I have never seen an oil pump on a Z31 go out.
Changing the timing belt at 60K is the recommended
mileage as per the FSM.
I am just telling Bigjohnsonc05 two things that should be checked.
Having a belt break and the possibility of a fire caused by leaky
injectors will ruin his day.
Nissan will replace the injectors and all related hoses for free if not
done so already.
