Don't buy the after market splash guards for the Z31, they look like *** ... just got some in the mail ... sure they follow the lines of the body but they stick out to the side way to far ... try and find the real thing from a parts car or junkyard which is kind of hard and the last ebay ones I saw sold for like $200 for all 4 which is nuts ... I'm going to make my own I think ... just giving my 2 cents and helping my fellow Z peeps out so they don't make the same mistake

What splash guards really do is hidden from view. Equate splash guards = rust. They cause rust by trapping water and dirt between the sheet metal and the plastic guard. Send them back and don't bother with them.

I made the same mistake when I first got my Z, but I like the OEM flaps, so I returned the crappy ones and got the real Nissan ones. I disagree that they cause rust, unless you are missing paint underneath them. I believe they keep the paint from getting chipped in the first place, which is the biggest cause of rust.

Mudflaps are overrated... rust holes are where it's at!

Is there an expiration date? I haven't been here since then. I got an email that reminded me this place was here, so I figured I'd stop by. The only rust I have on the rear is on the side that was actually missing a flap when I got the car. Seems to me, the other side was protected more by having one.

Naw... it's fine to reply to an old thread if there is something important to say (like you did).

I figure the car is over 20 yrs old, so the topics don't really expire, as long as there are still some on the road.
