Door panel filling...?

Door panel filling...?
so, I'm refinishing my interior and I'm starting with the doors, as they're easily accessible and don't take up that much room in my garage.
I'm working on a Spartan interior, deleting all the unnecessary things like pockets.
either way, my issue is that the top of my arm rest, that mounts to the door backing has some holes in is and im wondering if anyone here has used foam filler or anything like this to rework the area.
here's a pic of the piece im asking about and one door after redoing the backing and covering the lower portion, the upper will be painted black.

All I did was re-skin mine using carbon fiber vinyl cloth and some leather. Here is a picture of it. Was strait forward and fairly easy. I got the material from Metro Restyling. Cost like $50 for both doors.
Test fit with my old arm rest. I got a black one to put there.
Doing over most of the interior with stretchable 3M di-noc carbon fiber vinyl. This stuff comes in all colors and textures, and with the air channels underneath, it is easy to apply and get ALL the air bubbles out. Not that expensive either. With a hair dryer, you can stretch this stuff over a exterior mirror with no seams. Enabled me to restore my own 308K mile 32 year old interior for approx. $300 and also 40 - 50 hours of my labor. The alternative was to buy a take off interior that was 30 years old with its own defects. And this stuff can be pulled off and it does not destroy the original part. Haven't tackled the rear shock tower trim yet. They will probably be the last pieces I do so I can learn as much as I can on applying this stuff before attempting such a complex shape.
The very first thing I did in carbon fiber 6 years ago was the radio and heater/AC dash panels. I used real 2mm thick Carbon Fiber sheets. It was easy enough to fabricate and looked good enough that I decided to use the rest of what I had to do console inserts, including around the mirror adjusters and shock control area. Cost me around $30
Then I took out the seats, and redid those in black leather myself, and again, it was strait forward and fairly easy to reskin the seats. Cost me $375 for all leather custom seat skins.

i defiantly see how you went about things, and it looks really good.
my issue is that i have to fill holes in the top of the door panel itself. like chunks missing from the light padding they used.
I'm painting mine black along with the rest of the plastic, but even if i covered it like you did, I would want some kind of filling under it vs. a hole just blanketed.

Did you order a kit for your seat skins? They look really nice, and I would love to recover mine, but at that price tag i could also afford to just drop some aftermarket seats in it as well.
