Door/Mirror seals and trim pieces?

I just bought a 1989 300ZX so I can still have a Z to drive while I restore my '76 280Z. It's in pretty good shape except for the rubber seals and trim pieces on the front of the doors where the side-view mirrors are. I've found the part numbers and checked out all the US and Canada dealership options and it appears that these parts are just not obtainable.

So, what does everyone else with Z31 300's do? I was thinking of making new seals out of self-adhesive rubber sheet in the correct thickness, but if anyone out there already has an existing solution, or knows where I can buy repro parts, it'll take a little bit of work off of the list.

Thank in advance!

Yes, hard parts to find. Several previous posts about them. You checked out Car-Part.com--Used Auto Parts Market ? Look for a whole door/window/mirror assembly and try to talk them out of the parts you want. Not easy. Should be interchangeable for '84-'89 Z31 models.

But if you can fabricate something from available materials, you're better off anyway. It's not like they have to move or 'operate' in some way - so appearance and keeping the rain out are your only real concerns. Nobody will notice if you fake that corner piece, if that's where your leaks are...

Thanks. I did look or posts, but some of them went way back.

I just found ENGINE IGNITION SYSTEM / nissan | part list?JP-CarParts.com

and they seems to list the parts I need for reasonable prices. Perhaps I'll contact them first to check on availability and condition.

Wow! Parts from the Mother Country. (You're closer to Z heaven when you deal with them over there. You can smell the incense..) It's a wonder that it took them so long to catch on to the world-wide need for Z parts.

If you order anything, try to get a return warranty in case something doesn't fit. There were lots of major variations between the Zs made for Japan and the ones they exported.

Just an update...

I placed an order with Russ Darrow Nissan online and didn't get a message saying "These parts are no longer available". Now waiting to see if they can actually source them. I have a feeling I'll be getting my money back, but fingers crossed.

Their URL is Nissan.dealerdirectparts.com

No luck

Russ Darrow refunded my money and told me the parts were unobtanium.
