Brake lights not turning ON

Brake lights not turning ON
Hey, I picked up my second 300ZX, and yesterday the brake lights were coming on, and today they aren't. The running lamps work fine. The reverse and blinkers work fine.
It was sudden. I have no idea. Fuses look fine. bulbs look fine. The rubber pieces in the brake pedal were missing so I covered the holes and the switches are being pressed now (I fixed that yesterday, and the brake lights came on before and after this fix anyways)
I'm expecting a reply with a link to the FSM, which I have. I want to know if anyone ran into this problem and what they did to fix it, before I go and print this thing out and spend hours trying to figure out what it is.
EDIT: I feel absolutely stupid. I pulled the fuse and upon closer inspection the fuse was actually blown. All is well

I assume you are referring to the bumpers on the upper part of brake and clutch pedals.
When you say you covered the holes..I believe the bumpers must have at least 1\8 to 1\4 inch height to sufficiently close those switches.
You may find stick on rubber bumpers in ACE hardware for doors or cabinets. Also, the felt used to cover chair feet so as not to scratch floors..may work for a while..but best to get a hard surface on whatever you stick on.

The only other thing I know of is when the plugs on the steering column are not in all the way, you get funky lighting issues. Again based upon when I put my 84 back together...got the dash in after replacing it..and reconnecting everything..I had the funkiest thing!
Head lights and blinkers would not work or did strange things. I rechecked and found I had not plugged the connectors in all the way. Once I did..all was good.
This is all I can think of.
