Adjustable Gold Thing?

what is that thing?
Hey everyone i have another question. Located behind the spare tire on a 300zx turbo 1985 there is an adjustable gold thing where wire are going to and it is also adjusetable. What is this? It is on the opposite side of the antenna so i am unsure of what it does someone please help!

The box you refering to is probably the compass calibration unit. I believe there are two adjustment screws. One says "N" and the other says "E", right? It's been a while since I looked and I'm too hungover right now to want to search the manual.

either the auto trans computer (yes guys some did come with it stuck there) or like bum said, the compass unit for digi guages, do u have a digi dash? if yes, then its your compass unit, tho, they still work with them unplugged, it isnt accurate
