1986 300zx with silver trim on side? not an addon its a part of the car
i have a 1986 300zx that has a silver trim going along both sides and doors that says 300-zx. the rear fenders also have like a silver or chrome lining and both things are built into the car. i don't know if this is common or cant find anything on it. does anyone know anything about it?

As far as I know, they’re definitely not OEM. It was most likely an aftermarket company that made them. Unless the manufacturer’s name is on them (and it wouldn’t be on something like body moldings), you might find them untraceable to a manufacturer.
For the 1986 300ZX, Nissan changed some exterior trim. A stock 86 z31 had flared fenders instead of wheel arches like the 84-85 has, narrow body colored moldings instead of black colored ones like the 84-85 has, and rocker panel extensions that jut outwards. Like this car:

thank you for the response i wasnt sure someone would. theres also something else in the car. i looked at the vin number and decoded it to get whatever info out the car i could and after doing research i found out it was called a california model? do you know what the difference would be between that and the other models? the source i used said there was the california model, usa model, and japanese model
