I know not every one is on at the same time, and these forums do just about everything we need them too. But has anyone ever thought about a chat room? Some times a lil fast paste chat room is what a person needs to fix a problem. What if we test one for a week. It would take less then 2 min for me to set one up on my server. Let me know

We had a chat room on Zdriver a couple years ago. I don't think I chatted with anyone even one time. Nobody used it. I would go in there and be all alone talking to myself...
Godzilla would have to make one here if we are to do something major like that.

Here is illustrated the underlying problem with a Chat Room... It requires people to be online and 'chatting' at EXACTLY the same time...
We all just don't live our lives that way. Unless you have enough people where the 'relatively' random online time overlaps with enough other users, you just can't get the traffic.
Since we are a small group in a Niche market (Z Cars > 280ZX Cars) it's not likely we'll get enough people on at the same time without organizing the chat 'Sessions' before hand.
This is why forums and email are excellent communication mediums. You send a mesage when it's convenient for you. Your recipient reads and responds to your message when it's convenient for them and you read their response when it's convenient for you.
Unfortunately, this doesn't accomodate our modern need for immediate gratification or the need for an immediate response to an emergency call for help.
Think what it was like back in the late 1800's and early 1900's? You would write a letter to your buddy about your latest wagon 'mod' and have to wait weeks if not MONTHS for his response...

On nick, just pick one. if it does not work try another. It is a test chat room. I have not set up names with passwords. I was in the room, but even I have to go to sleep some time. I will be working today. and posibly tomarrow. But I will try my best to be in there. If you need a person to be in there at the same time as you. just send that person a PM and request a time and date. It's only a test, and don't cost nothing to run.

I've been in Z related chat rooms before. Unless someone really has a problem that all are trying to tackle at same time, it usually just resorts to regular chat crap. My car will beat yours, r u a girl?, show me your pics, what's the weather like over there?

While the initial thought of a Z chat room did sound like a good idea, I'm starting to see the drawbacks, and that's on top of what Riz and Bleach have brought up. I think the idea is a good one for those who do need "live" help with a situation. But that same help can be had through a program like MSN messenger or AIM, or something like that. The only way I could see it as being succesful is if it could be incorporated in the main page with the forums so active members could chat while viewing the forums. But an independant page dedicated to chating just doesn't seem like it would be worth it.
Now a "Video-Chat live with Jenna Jameson" would probably draw a crowd
