Wire for A/F gauge and changing brake lines trick?
Wire for A/F gauge and changing brake lines trick?
I thought I saw an old thread on this, but I Searched and couldn't find it. So, does anyone know where, and what color, wire I would tap into for an Air/Fuel ratio gauge (specifically for an '82 Turbo, if it makes a difference)?
Also, can someone please tell me the procedure for swapping out the brake lines for steel-braided ones? It seems easy enough to disassemble, but I'm just wondering what to do about having brake fluid gushing everywhere as soon as I start to remove the lines. ^^;
Thanks guys.

The fluid really shouldn't gush everywhere. You'll have a drip, but nothing unmanageable. Use a turkey baster and you can suck all the fluid out of the reservoir if you're really worried. Other wise just lay down some cardboard while you work.
For the a/f ratio gauage: It's the O2 sensor wire. Just tap it in the engine comparment.

It's a thicker black wire, but I can't remember what pin it is on the ecu. I just tapped it right before the ecu. Get out your Haynes manual & look at the wiring diagram.
Since the A/F gauge is in the passenger compartment, it'll be easier if I can find the wire inside, instead of routing the wire out to the engine bay.
Regarding the brake lines, if I leave the fluid cap on, wouldn't that create a vacuum, preventing the fluid from gushing out?

Just bleed the brakes after... it's not hard. Hell, I've had to bleed brakes by myself about 100 times...
heres the trick to get no fluid whatsoever to come out. use a clamp or something to put a small amount of pressure on the brake pedal and no fluid will leak out, the piston in the master will block it if its partially depressed, but just a little.
