What's this.

The vin # plate says hs130-2219-- but the book says it should read kh-s130-jfvbc what does this mean it's a 1980zx do any one know what this means.

NismoPick 09-05-2007 06:52 PM

Page 6 of the 280zx Haynes manual... if you are confused about the "K" it means the car does (or doesn't) have t-tops.

marc z 09-05-2007 11:38 PM

yeah it's a t -top should'nt i have a k in there, It's a 5 speed manual tranny i beleave it,s a gl model the haynes book is where i saw the numbers.

Heat Rave R 09-06-2007 12:45 AM

Hmm, an "H" at the end means a "High Altitude" model? What, does it fly? Well, many of us have seen those old 280ZX commercials from the 80's where they compare it to a jet... ^_~

duowing 09-06-2007 07:09 AM

It's faster than a jet.

I remember reading somewhere that at least I thought on the 79' and 80' year models the VIN was different before it became more standardized. That it followed the older S30 VIN style.

SHADY280 09-06-2007 07:10 AM

yeah mine is the older style.79, hls1301055550 is mine i believe, havent looked in a while

Bleach 09-06-2007 08:02 AM

so you have a right hand drive car? :D

Does your dash VIN match the other VIN stamps on the car?

marc z 09-06-2007 11:33 AM

Yes it is right hand driver, also when got the car it was in a back yard for 4 or 5 years i paid 200 bucks for it already spent 2.000 bucks on it with about maybe another 5 grand to go. sometimes i just want to sell it.

marc z 09-06-2007 11:35 AM

That's some useful information you could have added to your first post. :D Obviously foreign designated cars will have different VINs than cars produced for USA.

have you ever posted pics on this website? Got any you can upload?

If its the 2-seater car in your avitar then that's pretty cool. 2-seat RHD S130's are hard to find.

marc z 09-06-2007 03:03 PM

Well i guess that good to know, then maybe i should go ahead and restore it thinks a lot everyone.

Cronicus 09-06-2007 05:49 PM

wait 4 speeds were only avaible in the 79?

marc z 09-06-2007 07:03 PM

DUDE

but your VIN number says it is a JDM right hand drive car... maybe it is really a Fairlady Z that was converted to left hand drive. :)

did you think right hand drive meant that you shift with your right hand? I don't know how someone confuses that :paranoid:

I think my car is right hand drive but I'm not sure....

duowing 10-11-2007 01:21 PM

I'm gonna get a car where I can make it right or left hand drive. It'll have a dash that has pieces that you either swap in or out to cover up the other side, and for the pedals they'll be covered by a kick panel so the passenger won't be able to get at the pedals. It'll also have a switch so I can disable the other sides pedals in case I need to. It'll be awesome, then I'll sell it for millions.
