Exclamation What to do?

Well, my dad went to the dump today after cleaning out the garage and on his way home he saw a 240-280z, after work today we went to go take a look and saw that it was indeed a Z. We both kind of freaked out because Z's are hard to come by around here.

We then went back in the ZX to try to catch the guys attention, but driving by slowly and honking the horn 'accidently' only seemed to make us look lost, no one came out of the house.

The Z looked to be under the car cover for a long time so I have no idea what kind of condition its in, but my dad wants an older Z BAD. So what should we do, drive by until we catch the guy outside, knock on his door, sneek a look at the Z and hope he does or doesn't notice us? Im stumped!

knock on the door. Be sure to be in your ZX. and make sure it's in view behind you when he opends the door. ask if he would like to chat about them. Go from there.

Go up to the door and tell the guy you noticed that the Z had been sitting under the cover for a while and wondered if he wanted to get rid of it,and you would haul it off for him. If he is the least bit interested in getting rid of it then you may get it for free (i see where people get lucky and haul one off for free from time to time). If not, your first offer to buy it was $ 0. It is easier to work up from $0, then down from $1,000 or so. Then again, he may be going to restore it and all is lost. But you never know, until he answers the door. SO KNOCK!!!
Good Luck, let us know how it goes.

Yup I felt stupid but worth a shot, if the guy saw a datsun driving by I would have hoped he ran out. Guess not!

Less intimidating to the owner. Imagine if out of the blue a man an his boy came to your door to inquire about a car you have covered up in your driveway. It gives the owner a little more personal space and the opportunity to respond if he or she wants without feeling cornerd.

True, but I would feel weird getting back to that person if it happened to me. I would also like an explanation instead of wondering if they'll ever get back to me.

there's still a difference between being approached in public and a complete stranger invading your personal space. If I wanted someone knocking on my door about selling my car I'd have a for sale sign in it. If it's in my driveway with a cover on it then its that way for a reason. And it would NOT be because I was looking for interested buyers to approach me while I'm sitting on the couch watching overhaulin' in my boxers

If they are so hard to find in that area that you feel its necessary to approach the person by knocking on the door then do it. I wouldn't be angry that someone knocked on my door asking if I wanted to sell my car, just so long as it was just them asking and not trying to pressure me into selling it. If they say no then accept it and leave them be. I would much rather find a note in my mailbox then have someone come knocking on the door though. Of course thats not always possible with todays lockbox mail boxes

yeah thats bordering on stalking. Looking up a number to call somebody about their car thats not even neccessarily for sale I'm the type of person that probably wouldnt think twice if someone did call me but I would never do it myself. Not unless the number is made available with a for sale sign or classified ad.

Dude if you live in a small town(like i do), find some one that knows him, and get in that way, if not either find him some where and ask about it or just walk to the door, theres no harm it that. Oh and j theres a zx in my town if you want one still let me know. P.S. watch out for dogs.

Just leave a note with your contact info. SIMPLE, harmless and it leaves the choice in the owners hands without ever having to see your unfamiliar face on their doorstep

Yeah but most people are lazy, and don't consider that we (z lovers) are awaiting a responce. So what ever is up to you all, but i'm kind of impatient, and would rather be just plain out told no, then never hearing back... But thats just me.

See if I wasn't doing anything then I wouldn't mind someone knocking on the door. I've had people knock on my door for other reasons and we ended up chatting about cars. But if I'm in the middle of a good show or eating or just plain tired from a long day at work or something like that then I'm most likely not going to want to chat at the time. You just never know whats going on behind that closed door. If I'm out in the driveway then hit me up and I'm more then happy to talk Z's (or whatever you want). See me at the gas station in my Z? I'm game.
