tvv valve
Hello all, after much frustration and research I have finally registered here to gain access to knowledge that seems to be absent in most manuals I have read. This is my first post so please forgive my Zaivete.
On a serious note, I am the owner of a recently purchased 1981 280zx 2+2 with extremely low miles. I have never owned a Datsun before this so I am learning as I go. My question is, I am almost certain that my high idle problem is caused by a faulty TVV valve. The fault was discovered when I hooked a smoke machine up to the vacuum system and the TVV blew smoke like a chimney. And after researching the forum I discovered a high idle can be caused by a faulty TVV valve. I purchased a TVV from Zcarsource and they informed me that there is a type 1 and type 2 TVV. Type 1 has 2 vacuum hose connections, type 2 has 3 vacuum hose connections. I have included a pic of the TVV currently on the vehicle which is the factory original compared to the replacement I purchased. The one currently on the vehicle has a bulging nipple on the end with vents behind it which is where the smoke was blowing out during diagnosis. while the replacement is a solid unit with no end vents on it. Is this the wrong TVV or will it be compatible?
