Timing problem prevents car from running...
 

I have a timing problem after reassembling my engine that prevents me from starting the car. If I take the bolt out of the distributor and turn it all the way as far as it will go (opposite from the direction the rotor turns) it will ALMOST start. It will sputter and pop like it wants to go, but it is clearly very wrong indeed. Now that was in the s30 forum, mine is an s130, could this still apply to me? Sounds very similar to my problem, and I think both cars have the same L28.

I hope that's all I have to do. I just want this car to run again. It's been sitting too long and I kind of lost motivation, but today my father just called me up to brag that he just bought a mint '75 280z.:086: Heh, F that he doesn't get to have all the fun, now I really want my car back on the road asap!

All L-Series engines are the same mechanically. Re-align the dizzy shaft. :D

A fast way of checking is to move the spark plug wires on hole in the direction you need to go. Maybe even 2 holes depending how out the dizzy shaft is. Beats pulling the oil pump and moving the dizzy gear.

Yeah, I probably should have done this but I already started tearing the thing apart in anticipation of readjusting the chain. I was planning on pulling the pump anyway so I guess my job only got easier
