thought it was was the alternator :banghead:

well on my parents datsun, the dash lights came on and the car slowly came to a halt... so i though "yay.. alternator time!" so i got a new one... still nothing... the car still dies ?? so we put in a new lighting relay also, because the dash lights. interior lights. brake lights (either with lights on or brake pedal pushed down) .. well all lights besides the head lights... and the stereo also...

but as for what we did...

alternator
lighting relay...

any more suggestions??
we need the car back asap!!

just curious... does the car run and then dies or does it just not start? as far as your break lights go.. theres a little switch behind the break pedal that can go bad and cause your break light to stay on.. as far as your interior lights go.. you may have a short somewhere....

well the brake lights dont' come on at all.. either with pressing down the brake pedal or turning on the headlights... come to think of it.. the headlights are the only thing working on the car?? WTF??

and all the dash lights come on while the car is on... like the fuel gauge.. but the pump is good and theres a 1/2 tank of gas... and the battery light but the alternator is good??

my friend suggested the ignitino swtich.. any ideas if he could be right??

oh and it does start and will drive no problem but the battery keeps dieing and we tried a new battery also.. no ideas... :sly:

sad to tell you but this doesnt sound like an easy fix... from what your describing to me you have a major short somewhere.. thats whats draining your bat and thats whats causing your dah lights to stay on when your car is running and also why your tail lights dont work... best i can tell you is to have it checked out by an automotive electrition.. they might be able to track down the short...

Replace the entire wiring harness for the lights and electrical. Leave the fuel injection wiring alone. That shouldn't be too hard.

no way in hell im touching wiring :banghead: imma prolly take it down for a check.. theres a place that will tell you whats wrong for $50, i just hope it isn't to expensive, it's my dads car and hes gonna have to bus it soon
