On a 280zx? Really easy man. Look on top of the engine. You will see a radiator hose, with a piece going flat to the thermostat housing. Next to the valve cover, driver side. There is 3 12mm bolts. Use an extension, and a ratchet, to make it easier. Then, gently pull the piece off the housing. And the thermostat will be there. Depending on how long it has been in there, it might fight you a little but be careful. Use a flat head screwdriver, to gently pry it off. And it should. You will have coolant coming out the top of the housing. So if you want to drain the coolant. You wouldn't have to worry about it. I just do it real quick, and while doing so, and put a rag to hold the coolant in there.

You also might have to clean the surface. You want it nice and smooth, so you can put the new thermostat, and gasket on. Hope this helps, I really am terrible at explaining some things. Hope I didn't confuse you. Good luck man.

You don't have to drain out a lot. I put a small bucket under the drain **** and let out about a gallon and had no problems. Changed my thermostat today and it all went smooth

Seeing as you're in Florida you can prolly get away with leaving it out if you believe its causing issues.

Excellent, worked perfectly. I have hear of the leave it out idea too, but it was only a few bucks for the part, and it fixed my overheating problem.

Thanks a bunch!
