Sputtering Z

Hey guys, The Z has been performing fantastic for the last couple of years until recently. I had to replace the water pump and it has been cranky ever since.

What it's doing now is something that I would have thought would be fairly easy to diagnose but it's been just the opposite. When I start the car in the morning it will run fine. As it heats up it starts to lean out and sputter as I change gears, particularly after 3k on the tach. I had to remove the AFM to get the shroud off to change the pump. Reconnected and reconnected again a week later to see if it would help. No change. The TPS was missing the cover so I changed it and did a quick set. Need to revisit the TPS. The CHTS seems fine, any easy way to test the sensor without replacing it? Probly in the FSM right? I need more time to work on this. Fuel pressure gauge after the filter shows good fuel pressure. A/F gauge shows good cold but drops off the grid on the lean side when the throttle is closed. Any Ideas?

Maybe check your ICM? (ignition control module) It could be faulty. Signs are, when sensor gets pretty warm. The car will start running off, and the engine either wants to die. Or not run at all, at certain RPM's. Good luck

Tweaked the TPS and the problem is almost gone. There still seems to be a small hesitation at the 3200 - 3800 range. Anything over/under that and it runs smooth.

Just replaced the manifold gasket so I'll have to see how well it runs now. That's a day or two away for now.

Isn't the ICM only on the turbo cars?

Nah, it is on the N/A's also. It is the black box on the side of the distributor. If it goes bad, as soon as it gets warm enough the car will usually die. Until the unit cools off again.
