Straight and flat aren't the only criteria. You need straight, flat and most importantly controlled access or at a minimum deserted...

Preferably a 50's era Air Force base with ridiculously long early jet runways.

You forgot that whole "And staffed with on-site paramedics and trauma team members" part.

Rod.

Ahh... As a libertarian, I don't care what you do to yourself, just don't take chances with other people's lives...

And of course, I would never encourage or condone anyone to perform any act that could be remotely considered illegal by their local District Attorney.

If you really do want to go for 180mph, then I recommend you sign up for the annual race through the southern California desert. They actually block off a long stretch of highway and let you go as fast as you think you can. I can't remember the name of the damn thing right now, but it'll come to me later.

Cheers,
LWW

^ Must be a lot like the SilverState Classic, in Ely, Nevada, where they block off Route 308 and let you run. If I recall correctly, that's where the Option Stream Z blew a tire at 180 and rolled ... several times.

It may not be 180 but I hit 143mph in my mom's eclipse yesterday! that was some scary **** considering I have had my license for 1 month.

Oh ya, there is this old jetta near me that is crazy fast, thats one of the few cars arould here I wouldn't go near. It looks awesome too. Its a plain old gray which I like, looks kinda stock but is an inch of the ground with deep dish 13 inch rims. I don't know much about but I guess he has a motor from a turbo audi??

I wouldn't count on that 143 mph unless you got it on radar. Most OEM speedometers are off significantly over 100 mph. They can be off in the 10 to 20 percent range.

I had a guy in a v6 camaro pull next to me at a light and rev his motor and made eye contact and at 1st i didn't want to race him caz of chances of getting cought so he was a little ahead of me and I was like SCREW IT gave it all it had and strait up smoked that v6 camaro wasn't even close. I beat him by 8 car lengths at least. Then raced a z28 who pulled on me going about 45 and I cought up to him WITH MY AIR ON but it was about even, and it wasn't the LS1 Z28. he beat me buy his nose piece. I wonder what I could have done with my air off.
