Should I go for this? [280ZXT 2+2]

http://eugene.craigslist.org/cto/2673171254.html

Text: "I have a 82 Datsun 280zx turbo 2+2 with T-tops, straight body great interior runs great. I was preping it for a paint job so all the emblems are removed and in the car. I have clean title in hand. I am asking $1000.00 OBO"

I have made plans to look at this car tomorrow morning and I'm almost completely set on buying it, but I wanted some affirmation.

Here's what I know so far in addition to the ad:
- Automatic
- Clean Title
- Rust on hood, apparently due to poor paint condition
- 150k -ish miles, says 80k as previous owners turned back the miles
- Newer tires on it
- He's had it for 2 years

Go for it? I'm desperately wanting to hop into the realm of Z's and have been looking for a few months, quite limited selection around here.

Welcome to ZDriver!

Yes, you should. Any 280zxt in road worthy running condition is worth $1k. And feel free to low ball. You might get an even better deal.

Hope it works out!

Agreed - even if it is a 2+2 :P A soild S130 is more important than a running one IMHO.... You can replace hood, front fenders, doors and hatches easily so if the rest is solid then you're golden Check out the floor boards, rockers, under the battery tray, spare tire well and the rear hatch area.

the 2+2 models rule I don't know what fricfracs talking about, gives you extra space, if you want to camp out in the car

I just picked up my 2+2 Turbo and I'm loving it. Just have to find the time to get everything fixed! Haha

Mine is a 2+.5 ... It's a 2+2 body with a 2seater interior.

Hey, take what you can get.

Ha okay I purchased it Sunday, will upload pictures soon. Needed an oil change very badly. As far as I can tell the engine is in good running condition. The only place I have found rust is under the battery tray and inside the ash tray, neither have rusted through yet. The interior condensates really badly, so I'm thinking I need a new heater core. I'm going to have around $600 a month to put into the car, so hopefully I can reach my goals fairly simply. I'm pretty new to cars, but I am wanting to become more mechanically inclined. Bought a Haynes manual almost immediately

I did not see that one as my AutoTempest is set to view ads with pictures only. Oh well, I'm happy with my purchase so far.
