sensor problem ??

sensor problem ??

Did a little bondo and painted a few things black today ......anyway when i changed that starter out i broke the sensor inbetween #5 and #6 spark plug ...but when i was at the pick and pull i pulled it .....it looked brand new i MEAN NEW .. so i installed it ..ITS THE WIERDEST THING... IF its pluged in my car wont start if you plug it in when the car is running it turns it off ..does any one know WHY THIS IS HAPPENING ???

Im pretty sure thats the head temp sensor. Not positive though.

thats makes it even wierder my car was cold when i tryed it and just warm when i was done wierd

Yeah, that's the Head temp sensor, The ECU relies on that thing for engine temp. Mine dies if I pull that connector off. It's an '81 NA. I wish my engine compartment was as pretty as yours. Damn!

thanks alot .......get to it ...........it doesnt take that long.i have only had my z for about five months.it was stock when i got her with a blowen head... i TRY to do one or two things everyday.. posting about it just makes me want to do more stuff to it ,all i do is work on my z anymore is soon as i get my body pieces and paint her up iam going to take a break

Yeah that is awesome work '81 red! Man I would love to have that setup too. All except for the red wiring, because I want to change mine to blue. Otherwise it looks real sweet! And eliminating the original air cleaner. It looks like a gaping hole to me. I like the stock air cleaner. I thought about painting it blue and silver to match my future paint job. Also can I get a K&N filter for my stock air cleaner? Just wondering, thanks for the input!

Yes, K&N does make one for the stock air filter housing.

Crutchfield sells it for $39.95, special order.

If you go to yahoo search and type in (without quotations): 280zx K&N air filter
That will bring up quite a few results too.
