Hey guys, I've got a rev problem. My '79 280ZX revs randomly, both at idle and when in gear. For example, the car will just be sitting there in neutral and it will idle fine for a little while but then the rpm's will shoot up from idle up to 2000 and back down to idle for a little while on their own. The rev's don't do this constantly, but like every 20 seconds or so, they just shoot up and back down for some reason. Or when I'm driving, sometimes my revs will go completely haywire, like from 2000 up to 3500 then back down then up to like 4000 or something then back down, and so on. Any ideas what this could be? I really need to get it taken care of as soon as possible since my Z is my daily driver. Thanks!

your ignition module might be starting to go out.. i remember when mine was going out it would shoot up to 5000 then back to normal then all of the sudden it would die.. the modual is located on your distributer.. its that lil plastic black box attached to the side...
