Rack and Pinion

Finally started buying parts for this 1982 280zx I bought back in April. Got a new bearing, belt, and some power steering fluid to see if it's functional. Well it leaks from the rack and pinion and my question was what would be a good replacement? Ex. Autozone, etc. Just seeing if anyone here has had theirs replaced and is satisfied with it, don't wana have to replace it again even though Autozone's is lifetime warranty..

Thanks

I would check around to compare prices at more than one parts place. Then compare the 'new' aftermarket items with recycled OEM from Car-Part.com--Used Auto Parts Market They are showing a lot of them - which means they don't go bad often, so there is little demand for replacement parts. Makes used OEM sound good.

When you do a parts search, sort the results by Distance from your zip. The recycler may be close enough to you that you can drive there and check out the car in person. Most recyclers have 1-800 phone numbers. If they are showing the steering rack 'in stock,' it probably means the whole Z there on the lot.
