Fuel line from pump to hard line broke. About 8 in long. When I was down there I saw something that looked stock and was not connected. Kind of looks like it should connect to fuel line. Cylinder shape with hose connection tube on both sides. Between pump an hard line. Maybe a filter? My 82 is very stock, so I don't think it's aftermarket. Thanks for quick replies

Apparently is the fuel damper. Does this need to be replaced or can I just bypass it, like the previous owner did?

If it's been running all this time without you knowing about it, I'm sure it will be fine.

Thanks. I've had the car about a year. I did bypass it. Read up on the damper. Purpose seems to help FPR. Not sure how, if any, it affects performance.

from what I have read about dampers, its to prevent pulsation in your lines due to injectors draining the fuel rail and your pumps pushing fuel in so to speak, i doubt its that noticeable but some people have reported vibration without it in the lines.
