Painting question
ok heres my question to all you painters out there. I want to do a black chrome paint job using the Alsa Paint. They say that i need to have a mirror like surface to get the right look when i apply the base. The question is as soon as i get all the prep work done can i shoot a layer of clear as a "base" wet sand it and then apply the real base over the clear???

i think the job of painting would be to much for me. since i am gona strip down the inter and motor bay, might as well as everything else, send body, and frame to a welder, then to paint shop. be easyer for me. no paint booth set up yet.

yeah i thought about that. the interior i'll just paint with a cheap black with a clear though on the "vissable" areas... i'll do the engine bay with a nice dark black as well. then if i can fab that hood that the shelby series one has whti the lt1 or what ever engine i decide to put in it. then thats when i will use the black chrome paint on the "body" with a single stripe down the center... not sure what color though maybe a dark blue or dark red.. not sure yet on that.

i am keeping the same blue color of my car, motor bay will see that same color. maby a white stipe down midle of car. and some white in motor bay(like on valve cover fin's) to match. Inter will probly be a black carpet kit, along with black head liner. make it a blue black inter kind of thing,

that would be sweeeet i was thinking of doing a white engine with not much chrome to show any kinds of leakage that might happen and do a white stripe... i'm just sooooo confused on what color...lol

i smooth base is simply a really well preped 600 grit wet sanded body. then apply a sealer, then your base and your clear. unless your doing pearl, then you spray silver first then your color then clear. its a bit more work but not so bad. ive been helping skully via messages to get his going and in a nutshell thats it.
