Has anyone here painted their brake calipers? Just curious. My friend and I were fixing things in my Z today and yesterday (change/top of fluids, oil change, air in tires, repaint some interior trim, tear apart dash in effort to fix heat - almost found the problem) I pulled off the tires so I could clean em up (clean some break dust off, shine em up a bit, and make sure i still had brake pads) and my friend and I decided to do something for fun. We figured we would give painting the calipers a shot.

We headed to the local hardware store in search of some high temperature paint. We found Chevy Orange Engine Paint. It was close enough to red, we figured. We got back home, and went to work.

First we went to the caliper with a wire brush to get rid of the brake dust that had built up on it. After that, my friend taped off the whole area. We used the blue painting masking tape, some paper we bought at the store, and some painters plastic. We isolated the caliper from the rotor and the rest of the wheelwell, and sprayed. We used a heat blower to dry the paint quicker, and gave a few coats. Came out really good. We had a slight bit of overspray on this rotor, but thats nothing a little hard braking wont solve ;-]

My tires really look much better they do in this picture. There must have been water on the rims, cause they look like total crap.
