a new owner needs your help!

Hello everyone. 2 weeks ago I became the happiest owner of fairlady z. It was made for japaneese domtstic market (right hand drive), L20 engine, 5 MT. Model code ( such as VIN code) gs130-020976. How can i find a year it was manufactured? And one more question - are the specs the same? Can I buy american parts and accessories for my japan fairlady z? will they suit? I need your advices because I can't find any info in Russia about that car.
Thanks!

in the door jam there may be a sticker. prolly gone, but on the right side of the engine bay, by the battery, there will be a smal metal plate screwed on. it will have info about your car. kinda odd the s130 would have the L20 in it, but hey its jdm. you can buy many parts from the us, but just not the stuff to do with rhd, dash and steering box/rack parts. most of the L series engine share parts, just make sure you research.

instead of changing the steering location, it may be quite a bit easier to buy another car that has left hand drive instead. there is a market for rhd vehilces out there. i dont know what contries have which side steering around you to choose from, but its really up to you. hmm odd it doesnt have a year kinda painted on it. i havent looked at mine in a while, but thought it may have the year on it. take pix of the car, everyone likes pix anyhow

its hard to tell, if yours was American it would be easier because you could just compare it to another persons vin like mine, because I have a 79 with just numbers on the second part of the vin like yours, but mine starts with hgs130 and yours is just gs130, so there was probably a hgs130-000001 and an gs130-000001. I wouldn't think you could find any info in russia, I mean z cars were not even originally sold there because of the whole iron curtain two decades ago right? just Trabant's, and cars named with a lot of z's

Somebody correct me if i'm wrong. HGS130 means it was an L28, 2+2, 280zx. The lack of H means it would be an L20, 2+2, 280zx. If its from the japanese market and it was one of the first 20,000 built, its probably a 78. Judging from the plate, it looks like it has the (NA)71B tranny with a 4.3 rear end.

I'm so sorry for my missing and thanks a lot for answering me. I don't wanna buy another car because it's in a good shape and it's prohibited by the law to import into the country such an old car. noboosts130 was right, it is L20, 2+2, 280zx. I began my restoration 2 mounth ago, but I made not too much. I want to build a stroker but I don't know how. everyone use L28 engine for stroker, mine is L20. I bought carbed L28 from Nissan patrol 160 and I'm not sure it will fit. it has F54 block and n48(!!!) head. What do you think?

That engine will bolt right in. Just check the trans for the correct flywheel and throw out bearing
