Need your thoughts, please
Before I bought my first z (an 82 non turbo 3spd auto) I knew very little about any z car other than the 300zx and the 350z.I then stumbled across a really cheap 280zx. And after I bought it I read as many articles as I could find on the internet. I brought my haynes manual to school with me every day and read it page to page! Hell, I still do that from time to time!!
Anywho, I think they are great cars for whatever application you decide to use them for... Drag, drift, auto-x. Hell, there were even a few rally z's back in the day!
Also, its something different than the thousands of hondas etc out there. I wanted something that had a huge aftermarket (ex; not something so rare I can't find any parts for) and plenty of knowledgeable knowhow (see: hybridz.org). I quickly fell in love as I browsed through member galleries and met for the first time, g noses and kaminari and california / scarab kits. And gawked in awh at the sound clips of 400+ hp L28 turbos.
I really can't wait to have a car that inspires others as much as some cars have inspired me!

One thing I would ask is that you quit capitalizing the first letter of every word in your replies...
Actually, I saw a write-up where I guy used a keyless entry system from an alarm to activate a set of dead bolts he fabricated into his doors.
Even if you popped the locks or broke the windows, you couldn't open the doors unless you activated the deadbolts.
I would install two kill switches. One that kills power to the fuel pump and one that kills power to the ignition. The ignition kill switches are relatively easy to circumvent, but the fuel pump is a little harder especially if you splice into the pump wires in the back of the car where it's much harder to find.
A little insurance for the insurance. Of course, that's not going to stop anyone from sniping your new rims...
Let us know what you decide!

I Got The Rims Covered, Metric Alen Head Bolts For The Covers, Then The Usual Wheel Locks. And Dont Forget, In Canada People Dont Steal Rims As Much As The States, They Just Take The Whole Car. That And Im The Only Z Around, They Wouldnt Fit Anything Else, Cause There Custom Made For A Z With No Honda Adapters
SORRY I THOUGHT WE WENT OVER THAT ALREADY (the all caps thing), ILL TRY IN FUTURE TO FIX THAT ISSUE

1. ME!
2. A very stealthy flat bed tow truck
3. A helicopter full of Ninja's with a Luke Skywalker grappling hook
My friend with the '79 is in the middle of replacing the manifold gaskets on his car. He took it all apart yesterday and is sending the exhaust manifold out today to get machined because it's pretty rough. Anyway... when I showed up at his place yesterday his hood was shut and he was standing in his driveway near it. Just to be a smart ***, and because I wanted to see the carnage under the hood... I just walked over, put MY key in his door (again) and opened it so I could pop the hood. He get's so pissed when I do that

Rod.
HEHEHEHE!!! Rod, you continue to crack me up!
I actually did that to a friend, but it was at a movie theatre.
My girlfriend at the time drove a 65 Mustang and my friend had a cherry, hopped up 68 fast back.
I saw his car at the theatre, took my GF's key, jumped in the 68, fired it up, moved it over 3 spaces and backed it into the spot! It took him weeks to figure out what happened and he would never have found out if I could have kept a straight face when he was telling me the story!

i did the same thing to a friend of mine, she left here keys on the lunch room table, so we moved her car, far away, then after a 12 hour shift we all came out and she crapped her pants untill we told her about her car, the funny part is her boyfriend took the blame and a large beating and i walked laughing away, scot free
