Just got a Z and havea few questions
 

Recently i bought a 1982 280zx 2+2 turbo for $700 and got it running with a new fuel pressure reg and a new battery. The only things that dont work now are the heater and a/c. When i turn the heater or a/c on nothing happens, no air flow at all and when i move the selector switch to diff positions (i.e vent, heat etc) i hear a "psssst" hissing noise for a brief moment below the dash.
I plan on redoing the interior. Iv already stripped the carpet, headliner and panels and im going to repaint the trim and vinyl. My major concern with the interior though is the hump where the back seat was because i took it out. What should i do with the hump? Im considering just putting a carpet kit over it and putting subs in the holes, or how could i make it flat all the way back to the front seats? Thanks guys :) im new here.

I would honestly have the rear seats re-done. . . . You just got this ride don't know how lotta people feel on this but the zx ain't a sub kinda car. . . . My 81 I ran 2 10 in kickers 2 clarion 6x9s and 4 in dash speakers. . . Unless you had the car over 2000 rpm it would totally stall added a cap and went with a larger battery. Then the car ratteled so bad from the chinzy interior hated it ! My opinion don't matter but if the car is clean runs well add a clairion head unit and some new speakers your fine car is so small anyway your ears will bleed at half volume. If you want to rip the car up take seats out and throw subs in sell it and get a 93 civic ;) me id get the bushings new shocks bigger turbo and exaust and enjoy what the car is ;)

thanks ill keep that in mind! i was only going to go with the 2 in the dash and 2 in the back and one little sub. I also just found a new problem while i was driving home from work. When i turn in reverse i get a loud screeching sound from the rear tire on the passenger side, only when turning tho. And the tachometer jiggles up and down a little at idle :(

Sounds like your blower motor isn't working. Check all your fuses.

good news is that it sounds like your vacuum system is working! Once I got my vacuum hoses hooked up, it made that psst sound you talked about while switching the vents. Check out the blower and see what is wrong, be sure to look in the manual. You can get it here:

As for the tachometer jiggling, have you drained any old fuel? It could just be some bad gas.

hmm..no i havent drained the old fuel yet. she was sitting for a few months before i got her running and when i did get her running i added some fuel cleaner stuff to the fuel tank so i'm going to run through that tank and then i guess ill see how it looks after that.

So i just checked the fuses and they all look good, right amps in the right spots and everything. I can hear the blower motor humming when i turn it on too. and now the 1st time i depress my brake, the check engine light yells at me "stop" -_- i think it has something to do with the screeching noise from the back

Stop as in the tail lights?

I think so, the symbol looks like a light. The check light is off when i start the car, but once i apply brakes fully, it comes on and stays on until i turn her off

ok so im stupid, the light was just telling me one of my brake lights was out. I drove her up on some ramps today to get under her, and my A/C started working for no reason, but now my selector switch doesnt? grrrr
