Intercooler piping

Alright so I'm going to get myself an intercooler soon. I'm wondering if you guys have any recommendations on the piping. Is it better to get an intercooler where the piping goes in and out on the same side of the cooler?

I'm debating just buying one of those sets on ebay that have the intercooler, piping, and the silicone couplers. I've seen a bunch of people have routed the piping in front of the radiator, and then there was lifegrddude's intercooler where he has both inlet/outlet on the same side and ran it all on the one side. That looks a little easier.

As Bleach would say... Due yer homewerk gurlz!

Research about IC's before buying one. Those cheap "new" ebay ones are built well... cheaply. Many are MORE restrictive...

As for the in & out... it all depends on how the IC is made. Mine has in & out on the same side, so piping was kept to a minimum.

I've been looking all over trying to find ideas for the piping. I haven't found much about the intercoolers themselves. Just alot of people seem to like the same side in/out rather than routing it around through the passenger side radiator support and between the radiator and valve cover. I was actually trying to find pics of your intercooler setup Nismo, but I wasn't finding them on cardomain for some reason, or a bunch of the pics weren't showing up.

I moved all my pics to page 2 on cardomain. I would upload new pics but cardomain limited uploads to 2MB so I sent them hatemail.

The general consensus on Hybridz is that the same side i/c's are more efficient than the opposite side i/c. Type in "same side intercooler effiency" or efficient, and you'll get to read a bunch of threads pertaining to that subject. 240hoke was one of the guys who converted from opposite to the same side style as well as a few others. My i/c is a Spearco core that was originally designed for the MKIII Supra.

that's what I've been seeing is people saying the supra intercoolers seem the best as far as placement and such. I figure I'll just keep an eye on a good deal on an intercooler then order one of those ebay kits that come with a bunch of different bends and such to pipe your intercooler. By the way, what size piping do you guys use? 2.5" or do you use 3"?

I picked up an intercooler on ebay. It looks like the Spearco unit, it even says Spearco on the one side. Whether it's actually a Spearco or not, I don't know. It is ebay afterall, home of the knock offs. Either way it should be more than enough so i can run me 11-12 psi of boost safely.

man i know this is cheap to do but....iv started picking up turbo stuff again, and maybe its just cuz its oklahoma but alot of ppl are hotrodding deisels. at least the rednecks around here are. if you keep an eye out behind the muffler shops for deisel exhaust 2.5 to 3 inch, obviuosly dont get the old or used ones but someone must have done a complete exuast on a brand new deisel. hell the sticker was still on the muffler with a manufacture date on it of 3 months ago. clean on the inside and clean bends too, you cant beat free hard lines
