How do I tell if my 1980 280zx is a 10th anniversary?
I just bought a Datsun 280zx yesterday, I picked it up for cheap and the guy i bought it from claimed it is a 10th anniversary but he didn't have the time to find a collector and he needed the money urgently. I looked at the paint code and it is scratched off... It's a 5 speed with 190,000 miles and a straight 6. It runs really good! The vin # is HS130224951 . The guy before me painted it black with a paint brush and house paint -_- and the guy before him painted it light blue. But after scraping some paint off I can see some gold. Is there a way to check from just the vin # to tell if it's a 10th anniversary?

You could probably call Nissan and ask them, but I don't think there's a specific code on the VIN that will just tell you if it's a 10th AE.
There's also a dash / console AE badge with it's AE# on it.
