Just received a phone call from my dad... the z has arrived at my garage. :038:
|
Glad your Z made it back safely dude! Hope you get it fixed and back on the road soon!
|
Much thanks to those that helped w/ advice, contributions, and tech support in this crappidy time. Woot! :038:
|
if I still had that extra P90a head I would send it to you... but it sold
|
I'll prolly use parts from my spare P79... are the rockers for P79 & P90 the same?
|
what is the issues though, the cam and towers or just the cam???
but yes, the rockers and cam should swap over. |
The cam for shizzle... I'm not sure about the towers (I'll find out when I yank the cam)... and I imagine the rockers too. I would assume if the cam lobe got ground down, it did some damage to the rocker face too.
|
both sides of my rear right rotor are ground down. Do you think I should replace the brake pads? :D

Well now you're just being silly! :048: |
hey make sure to replace all the stuff in there. rockers, cam and towers. it will all be a mess. i got spares of stuff, but as for the rockers, if they didnt get numbered coming off the exact cam, youll have to buy new, or they will always clatter and make noise. dont ask how i found that out.

The car is home... The transporter was actually a double decker semi so they had to leave the car on the street. I started it & drove it into the garage... so it still runs, and even pumped oil to the cam... now I really don't know what the prob is. |
you touch yourself at night..... no lol, yeah idk well, start it and listen.... and look, only thin i could think of;
|
the car came off the carrier at a steep angle correct?? it could be your pickup is broken or clogged, so when it was put at an angle, it was able to suck some oil that was around it. bit far fetched, but ive seen weirder things happen.
|
Here is the exact problem....you have a piece of something floating in your oil pan...this "thing" gets sucked up to the pickup screen and blocks the oil...when the car is turned off pressure drops as well as the "thing"....when the car came off the truck the "thing" moved away from the pickup tube and screen and now you have oil to the top of the engine....be warned...it will get sucked up again. When you find this to be true...post what it was so everyone will know I was right. :unibrow:
|
Yeah... I'm prolly going to flush it really good w/ some ATF & use some new oil, prolly synthetic. Then just check how well the cam is receiving oil. I really don't want to drop the oil pan to check the pick up. :wasted:

the pickup has a large screen over it. That thing would have to be a pretty big chunk of plastic to block the oil pickup. From there the oil goes to the pump and the guage showed good pressure. I would say the problem lies in the head or cam itself.

I'm thinkin' it's because his wheels are too small...
If he at least had some 17's on there he'd be OK :) Sorry, couldn't resist. Rod. |
yeah, you mightve goten shit up in there is all, just do what you said do teh nice ATF flushing (does wonders) and make sure its coming up through to teh head and then change it back out. and see whats up.

put msa's high pressure springs in it. if one of those is weak, it wont get oil all the way up the motor. the pump may be fine, but the springs are allowing it to bypass the pump a little. those springs are only worth 5 bux err something.
|
Just pack about four little springs in there so you get 130psi oil pressure and run really thin oil. See what that does! :D

Today I had time to work on the Z (first time that I've even wanted to work on it since MSA).
Pulled & swapped cams. Pics of the damage: Opened up the rocker cover... oh what's that? One of the rockers not even mounted: http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h8...l/DSC02706.jpg Carnage of the cam: http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h8...l/DSC02714.jpg |
