thanks man... i got them used for $50 a seat and had them reupholstered for around $150 a seat... not bad for a set of Recaros

Blevins 01-29-2004 05:59 PM

Looks great James, I can't wait til mine is 90% done...lol

Carl's Z 01-31-2004 08:20 PM

James, did you paint the hood vents yourself?? I want to do the same with mine with flat black, but am wondering how waxing would affect it (will it just smear waxy white residue all over the black paint or what?!). If you did do it, what kind of paint did you use??

Also, you know that flange of body under the doors that hangs down? I painted mine flat black and it helped make it disappear and gave my car a cleaner, straighter look under there...

Thanks

Very nice car indeed. I´m 27 and this is my first Z.

Carl's Z 02-07-2004 01:44 AM

Is there a chance I can get a sharp 1152X864 pic of your car, preferably a front-side view??

Mucho-appreciato...

Carl

Thanks the the Tip Carl. I will paint those flange black to hide them too.

1) The hood is painted flat black with two layer of clear coat. It's very difficult to scratch it. I always avoid getting wax on the hood vent.

2) I will email you the pic.

Carl's Z 02-07-2004 08:52 PM

Thanks. I do have all the pics from the site, but I wanted one to use as wallpaper to give me some encouragement...:)

I'm also wondering where you got the flat black window edging, or did you do that yourself as well?

jamest_corvel 02-07-2004 09:44 PM

My body guy did it all.

Carl's Z 02-07-2004 10:26 PM

I've got pics of a stock '82 with all black edging as well. Looks real good. I think it's the way I want to go also...

jamest_corvel 02-07-2004 10:32 PM

Make sure you apply good coat of clear paint over the flat. Else they tend to chip off easily. I tried to email you the new pic but the file size is too large for hotmail. I will have to use my work email to send the pic to you monday.

I just came back cruisin up and down Pacific Coast Hwy Huntington Beach with the top down. Ahhhh life can not get any better than this. Just me and my fair lady Z...no wife no kids... :)

I can not wait for this Mar 25th-28th MSA Z Meets in Orange CA. It will be fun and I hear MSA will also have a blowout sale inventory clearance too.

Carl's Z 02-08-2004 08:18 AM

Thanks for the paint info. I looked under my vents yesterday, and it seems most of the threaded posts are missing, so I'm not sure what is holding them on all the way around, so I may postpone the paint til I get another set. I know a guy bringing in a couple of 83's from Florida, so I'll see if he has a good set.

Yeah, there is nothing like a good highway and the tops off. Especially the no wife and kids part. I enjoy that myself every once in awhile... :D

Thanks for trying with the pic. I can't wait to see it as wallpaper.

MSA meet sounds like a blast. One day, maybe I can do a California run and go to some BIG shows...

Talk to ya later

AllmyZs 02-08-2004 09:02 AM

I miss doing a PCH cruise so much I use to drive from San Fran to Monteray every weekend just to relax. I am also very stoked about the MSA show, but I thought it was at the end of April.
Oh Well see ya all there.

cerealkilla 02-08-2004 04:49 PM

the car is phat. maybe even nicer than isiac's:cool: 1 thing
though no side or tail badges?

jamest_corvel 02-08-2004 06:03 PM

Each Z has its own beauty, I can't say which one is better and what not. I stored all the badges and molding away in case I might change my mind in the future. As for now, I love the clean look on the Z. Only the hood Z emblem is a must.

Carl, I took your advise and painted the flange black. Woowwww...what a different. I will email the pic to you soon.

Carl's Z 02-08-2004 06:06 PM

Glad you liked the outcome. I know I did on mine... ;)

Carl's Z 02-09-2004 01:11 PM

Waiting, waiting.............

I'm in SUSPENCE!!!

jamest_corvel 02-09-2004 01:18 PM

I just emailed to you...
