Ebay seats

Since I am broke and my current stock seats are completely ripped apart I was thinking of ordering some of those seats on ebay for cheap. I was wondering if anyone had any experience with them. These are the ones I was looking at- http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...MEWA%3AIT&rd=1

I know I am going to have to make my own bracket but that shouldn't be too hard. Any input would be apreciated
Thanks
Rob

Don't forget to take a look at that $130 shipping/ handling charge.

Screw that. Go here:clicky clicky

Only a few bucks more than those ebay seats and I'd be willing to bet that the shipping there is a hell of a lot cheaper than it's going to be for those seats on ebay. Major retailers like NOPI generally charge a lot less for shipping cause it costs them less.

Your local Kragen / Schucks / Parts America carries these:

http://www.partsamerica.com/ProductL...ing+Seats&so=0

They had a sale going on about a month ago for $99...

I meant to go down and buy one, but I got caught up in other family stuff and missed it.

I'm going to use one for my driving game rig. I'm welding up a frame for a seat + slider with steering wheel and pedal mounts. I will rule in Need for Speed!

Anyway, pick it up local for $139/ea and forget about paying crazy shipping rates! At least this way, if it doesn't work out, you can return the damn things.

A friend of mine bought these, dis-assembled them, added a butt load (get it? I said butt in a post about seats!) of extra seat foam to the seat, backing and side bolsters and they are incredibly comfortable!

It took him about 6 hours per seat, but he was strapped for cash not time...

[EDIT] I just checked, Kragen's has the 'leatherette' version with a $20 mail in rebate for a cost of $139.99 + tax - $20 MIR = $119.99 + tax. I'll probably pick one up tomorrow after work.

don't forget...

there are MANY horror stories about the fitment of these in our cars. everyone I know with one in an S130 says they are too tall, and that they look very odd in the car.

I would avoid getting the cheap ebay seats. First of all, they are the same ones that are sold at your local pep-boys at a much cheaper price if you figure in the shipping. Second is the fact that they are junk; there is a reason that seats from Sparco and Recaro cost upwards of $500, they are race proven, comfortable, and most importantly very safe. In this case you are paying for qaulity, not the brand name. I have sat in the cheap *** bucket seats they sell at local parts stores and concluded that my worn out stock seats are still a much better choice than those. I would just wait and save up for some quality seats... its a decision you will not regret

007 has a point. These are definitely harder to fit in the S30 than a properly sized seat. These cheap seats are typically aimed at the Honda crowd which have wider passenger compartments. I will say, I've seen several that came out looking ok, but it'll really depend on the overall dimensions and how low profile you can make the bracket.

The S130 is much easier to fit than the S30 and I have a set of 'Wide' Corbeau A4's in my ZXT. I had to modify the brackets to get them centered properly and they are still just a tad too high in the seat for good helmet clearance so I'll have to recline the seat slightly to make sure my helmet doesn't get hung up on the headliner.

I did put the old Scat ProCar seats that originally came in my ZXT into my 240z and they fit great! Still a little wide and I need to modify the bracket a little more to move them a bit away from the center console, but so far it's working great and I was able to modify the original seat sliders to work as well.

Anyway, just about any seat is going to require fitting to go in these cars properly. It depends on what you have more of, time or money.

Thanks for all the help. I looked at the ones on NOPI and they seem pretty good. But the site llw posted, those leathervette seats seem like a great deal. Do you happen to know the dimensions and if they we will fit easily into an s130? There is an advance autoparts near me so that will work out. Thank god I posted this, I was in the middle of buying the ebay seats and that changed my mind. Thanks
