Drive Shaft U-Joints

I have searched and searched the site, but nothing really comes up about the possibility of replacing the u-joints on an 83 280zx. I have read that it can't be done, but I know someone out there has been able to do it. If so please help...I don't like the idea of having to find a new drive shaft just because the u-joints are shot. I found this out while swaping my auto for a T5....just about done...

Unfortunately, I believe what you have read is accurate.

Yeah from '75 to '83. The U-joints are pressed in. You have to take your driveshaft to a special driveshaft shop. When I had my u-joints replaced in my '81. The driveshaft went to Mesa driveshaft shop. Funny my u-joints started going bad in my '82 a while back. But luckily I had the rebuilt one..I did on my '81. So I just swapped it out. heh heh It took me a couple of hours or so.

No I don't think you can. They are pressed in...and you need a driveshaft shop. Or special tools to replace them. All I know is...that is what is mentioned in the manuals. And even MSA & Blackdragon mention that '75-'83 Z's u-joints are pressed in.
