When replacing my vacuum advance unit recently, I noticed that the... circular magnetic ring that sits under the Rotor... was cracked.

I've read that people use non-280zx parts for their distributors... and was wondering what these other parts are... what makes etc to try.... which would see improved performance etc.

Anyone have any suggestions?

I don't think the distributor is one part that you can swap from another vehicle. Get a 280Z, 280ZX, or Maxima distributor to use for parts. (1984 and older for the Maxima)
