Did something with my bumper-nipples
So I've been on the down-low ever since last summer, but I've been up to a lot of changes to my Z, including revising the interior, tuning the engine, and, as the title says, modding my front end. I figured I'd just debut the changes at MSA, but since I just finished my front end tonight, I thought I'd post a quick pic.
So as some of you may, or may not know, I chose to use a side mount intercooler, for simplicity reasons. However, the trick was getting airflow to it. The ducting for it came right out behind the turn signal, so I got rid of the turn signal and replaced it with some slim LED units (the reason for that previous thread about fixing the rapid blink rate after removing the stock turn signal). So now I've got a ram-air scoop for my intercooler. ^_^ It is true that now the shape of the turn signal light is a bit different than the other side, which is still the original turn signal. But I didn't want to give the same treatment to the other side, since there's nothing over there that needs air routed anywhere. Besides, having this side be different stresses that this hole is doing something, kinda like how the left side hood vent is shaped different to the right side.
And as you can also see, I modified the bumper-nipples to be foglight housings. I'll take a better picture of the overall front end later this weekend, after I've had a chance to clean up the car.
