Before you splurge on a pre-fab'd exhaust kit, call up a couple local exhaust shops & ask how much they'd charge for a custom one. I paid $200 for a 2.5" from my downpipe back...

Nismo,

I know you helped me understand the header application but... should I get an aftermarket header before having the custom exhaust fabbed? Also do you know of a good hi-flow cat to use? Sorry to flog the dead horse known as "headers".

For the sake of your time and money, it would be best to do it all at once. You could install your header and then take it to a shop to get the rest of the exhaust done. It's just kinda double work to hook up the header to your stock exhaust just to rip it out later. That's up to you.

Stick w/ name brand cats. I think I have a Flowmaster cat (been a while since I looked at it). Any local muffler shop will be able to help you pick out a high flow cat.

If you have to do it in "phases", it's best to do the header first. Once that's on, and the shop doesn't cut the header flange off for some crazy reason, it's a simple matter of re-attaching the header to the new exhaust later on.

No offense buddy, but uh, why dont you just buy my HKS "OEM style" turbo muffler. Its a bolt on and it looks brand new and will gain you back some points with your Z. No Z deserves to have a muffler rust off.
Never really used it. had it on the Z for about a week after the turbo swap. Dual tip, tips are plated and it sounds great. Im in Oakland, hit me up if your interested

thezstore.com but you have an S130 so idk what their exhaust systems are like, im sure similare in price and the header for sure is the same price. only problem is they use all clamps.... sooo the exhaust is like, permanant. lol. i tried getting mine off the other day. no go. luckily the tranny JUST slipped past it
