Crankshaft pulley - where to buy?

So I've noticed that my crankshaft pulley has started to slip. I know the timing mark isn't lining up with TDC. So the question is where can I get one for under $200?

It's $199.99, under $200, however, shipping for the product is another $12 :087:

lol well that is technically what I asked for. Thank you. I was hoping someone had discovered a good source for inexpensive pulleys :080:

I have a crank pulley I will sell you for $20 + shipping: https://www.zdriver.com/forums/280zx-performance-technical-79/s30-vs-s130-crank-pulleys-l28et-build-27965/

But... if it's "slipping" as you say, either it's splitting itself apart, or it's walking the key out of the crankshaft (which has caused damage to the crankshaft), or it's not related to the crank at all... possibly the dizzy shaft is off a tooth, or the dizzy is loose. I believe it was our member AudioFreak who had timing problems because the dizzy was about ready to explode. :D

Thanks NismoPick

I figured it was splitting itself apart. Because I set cylinder 1 to TDC and compared the mark on the crank pulley, which was way off in comparison. Could it still be the dizzy? And I suppose the way to know whether its the pulley splitting or the key walking out is to remove the pulley, huh?

Did the chain skip a tooth or two?

O.o I've heard of the l28e chains stretching slightly but haven't heard of them skipping teeth. Is that really a common issue?

Also I didn't really notice any markings on the chain when I had the valve cover off. How could I tell?

It could be on there backwards..?

There are two noticeably lighter colored links on the chain, one will be around the crankshaft while the other is on the camshaft sprocket.

Excuse the parkinsons

Thanks for the pic Wangan. I suppose I could pull the valve cover back off to double check that chain. I'll do that when I get the new fuel injectors in this weekend. If anyone else has any input/suggestions please pitch in and I'll make a list of things to check! :)

Trex 11-09-2011 09:52 PM

Well I got my fuel injectors in and what a difference! Only issue is that it seems to stumble around 3500-4000 rpm. I think this is probably the timing. Once I get this smogged and reregistered I'll be back under the hood checking your suggestions :)

So I smogged the Z today and failed :/

I had failed before with a HC of 530. 500 is the pass limit. I also had that misfire. So I replaced all of the plugs, the distributor cap, distributor rotor, and eventually narrowed it down to the injectors. I just replaced all six of those and the car runs great. I still can't adjust the timing because of the issue I stated in my first couple of posts. So today I tested and failed again.

The HC was within tolerance but my idle CO% jumped up to 5.67%, and the high speed CO% is 6.56%. The pass value for both is 2%. I'm looking through some of the 280zx smog fail posts now and I'm thinking maybe bad O2 sensor?? Any feedback is appreciated.
