out of curiousity, my friend has a BMW 325is, and we were thinking of taking his cat and clearing it out. He has another bmw that he totaled, so if we were to take the cat off of the other bmw, how would I get all of the stuff out of it? Would this really give him any performance difference?

Yup 25 extra horsepower. and a K&N filter adds 15 horsepower. Why go turbo when you can just do a couple bolt-on mods and be over 200hp!!!

if this is true, then my 240Z that came stock with 150 hp is now pushing 175 hp since it doesn't have a cat and a pertronix system?

Look on the receiver. It should say SLR-##. The Bulgarian's never sold a semi AK-47.

Whoever registered the rifle just put down that it is an AK variant. I would make sure the serial #'s match the registration!

Big screw driver and a hammer should do the trick. And no, you won't notice that much difference.

It'll rev a little easier, but the seat of the pants dyno is notoriously deceptive.

The only way to really prove it is to test on a real dyno with the cat installed and then let the engine cool and do the test again with the cat removed.

I was being sarcastic, but the funny thing is you believe that? You can't get 25hp or even 5hp from gutting a cat. The K&N filter would be lucky to add 4hp on most L-series engines.
Yes, please go turbo!

I think I can gain at least 25HP from the stock exhaust once I go turbo.{Side exit with no CAT} Again compared to stock exhaust on the motor I will be dropping in..

That's not at all what we are comparing.
I really doubt on a completely stock engine with stock boost that you would gain 25 crank horsepower with only exhaust modifications.

Plus, we are talking non-turbo with no other mods.

Yeah I know I just has to say it..A complete exhaust minus the cat will gain maybe 9HP at the most I would say..

just run wide open intake and exhaust ports with no manifolds. That's gotta be good for 100hp!

nah, put the wing backwards to give it lift, maybe if it flies, it'll reduce the friction from the ground and shave off a second or two.

If one gutted cat can add 25hp, how many gutted cats do you think I can fit welded end to end under my car? hmmm... maybe 8? ...so, that'll get me an extra 200hp right there not to mention all the tornados I'll have inline of each other on the intake.

this guy who goes to the same college as me has this beater toyota hatchback (like a 78 or so), and the thing is covered in stickers. I'd say he has somewhere around 100-200 stickers, no windows, and he has a christmas wreath on the hood. If those stickers add 5 hp a sticker, and he has 150 or so, that means he's got to be pushing 750hp in mods, as well as his class III weight reduction, and I'm sure that christmas wreath is a homemade blower. He's got to have like 1000hp in that car alone.
