A/C and P/S Delete?

A/C and P/S Delete?
My Z has been slightly overheating for awhile (3/4 gauge max) and as a last ditch effort I deleted the front half of the A/C system. This actually was my problem! Now my Z doesn't overheat anymore and it must have freed up some power as the engine is much more responsive (and quieter).
Now I'm wondering how hard it would be to delete the P/S. Right now it has the recirculating ball P/S system. Any ideas? I heard just capping the ports on the gearbox is all I need to do, while others say I have to change everything.
PS: Why is there no Aluminum radiators for the 280ZX? Didn't the 280Z use the same radiator?

Sounds like your a/c clutch was starting to seize up man. Honestly I'd try swapping to a rack and pinion for a cleaner look but you could try that as well. Just make sure you flush some new fluid through there before you cap it all off. As for the radiator there is one through arizona z car by special request http://www.arizonazcar.com/radiator.html for $349. One out of Nopi for $204 http://nopi.com/dsp_parts.php?vsubpcdesc=Engine Compartment | Radiator. Try that search feature. lol

Hmm, I didnt think of that, I just knew that the condenser was somehow bent in far enough to nearly touch the radiator as well.
And while I was looking over the power steering system I noticed it had a few leaks, on the gearbox and the pump so I might just wait and go find a rack and pinion from a junkyard.
Thanks for the link on the radiator! I entirely forgot about Arizona Z Car!

I deleted both on my car. I just pulled everything out and capped the lines. I don't think the lack of power steering is all that troublesome. If you switch to rack and pinion you may need to get the crossmember as well, but i'm not 100% sure.

I didn't have the power steering belt hooked for for awhile when I had an L24 in my Z. and I never really noticed a huge difference really. Glad to know you can cap it. that will save me like $500 for a new pump and not have power steering fluid all over the engine bay.

Holy crap! $500 for a new pump? That's ludicrous! Where did you get that quote from? And there is a little difference without power steering. I drove without it in my T-top, and got used to it. But when I got my slicktop running, which has power steering. I noticed quite a bit of difference.

That was from when I last checked... I just checked now and found a reman one for $117... I'm starting to wonder if the part sites are trying to make me look like an idiot...
Edit: No wait, MSA has the pump for $540, So its more my fault for not looking around lol

As far as I know you do need to change the crossmember because of the mount for the rack and pinion is a part of the crossmember if I remember correctly. I'll take a look at my fairlady Z next time i go home to find out.

Having trouble finding the other but if you call a parts store you can get them locally alot of the time. You'd be suprised what you can find the local parts stores. When i worked at AutoZone I sold many seals for steering gear boxes. They're out there.
