What's up all? This is my first time posting on this site so bare with me..... I'm only 18 yrs. old , and i will be moving to the west coast after I graduate high school, and i will be going to college. The thing is i need to know if a 1979-1983 280zx would be a reliable enough car for me. I'll be going to college, and I won't have enough money to fix a sudden problem like a blown head gasket or something like that.....any and all suggestions and help and would be appreciated. thanks

 

Well, I'm in college too and I love my Z. All I can say is if you have some basic tools and know how to do basic maintanence, you should be fine. The worst thing I've had happen to me was a fuel rupturing on me. Previous owner used the wrong type of fuel line. Other than that, nothing has else has left me stranded on the side of the road. However, if you don't think you can find the time to change belts, pads, and whatever else a 20 year old car might need, you might find a newer early 90's Civic or Sentra a better buy. I do hope you get the Z though! Oh and welcome to the board too.
