Blinker went Crazy

So the blinker LIGHTS work (I'm pretty sure, it is SUPER bright out), but while I'm driving I hear a dinging sound. I think it is the same tone as the blinker but maybe the door with the keys in.

What is the best way to attack this problem? I was thinking of finding whatever box makes the blinking sound and replacing it all together. I know the door is shut cause if it wasn't the interior lights would be on.

Thanks!

(81 280zx, coupe and looking GREAT. I'll upload pictures soon.)

If it's the door dinging chime, check your door strikers & the rubber covers for your door switches. My drivers side was so worn that when I took a hard right hand turn the door would jiggle open just enough to trip the switch & make it ring half a dozen times a second.

Hello Daemione:

I think you are right. I got where I was driving straight and it wasn't dinging and pushed on the door with my arm and it started doing it's thing. I'll have to find a way to extend that numb or put a bumper on the door. I like where I put the weatherstripping so I'm not going to change that.

Or do a cheap fix, and wrap electrical tape around the striker area. I would replace them, but I can't seem to find them new anymore. At least, not the last time I looked, which was a little while ago.

I used some double sided tape on the door where the button hit's the door &
stuck a penny to it.
No more problems

I did basically what 71OLDS did. I used that weatherstripping I was talking about, and cut a square piece of it and stuck it on the door. The stripping is roughly 3/4 of an inch thick so it fit snuggly where I wanted it and haven't heard the dinging stuff going on since.

Good call Daemione!
