BCDD Block off??

I have determined to have a bad BCDD. I am now reading where you can just bypass it by blocking it off. Has anybody done this procedure ? Did it mess with your EGR? IF this works I fiqure I could do it until I find one. The dealer weants $300 for a new one.
Thanks in Advance.

Where are you reading this?

Black&Gold83Z Mar 16, 2012 06:29 AM

Googled it..

When I googled BCDD read a few post in other Z sites ect Nis..:017:

Links???

I've never heard of removing the BCDD... it's a main idle control. The AAC on turbo models is "somewhat" removable.

BCDD Removal ?

Nis~
Upon futher hunting apparently this can be done with 80's and older when introducing mods ect .. I did read one post where one guy says he removed it blocked it off with gasket material and put it back on and has no issues .. Hmm ,,I find that hard to believe..I cant seem to find that link now..but I googled 280zx BCDD removal and a page of stuff came up..I am of the status if its not needed it wouldnt be on the car.. I would rather get another one but this little part is much harder to locate than MAss Flows & Idle control valves ect..

I imagine those other "mods" would include a stand alone efi that can independently control idle.

I may have a BCDD on one of my manifolds. I'll check this weekend.

I blocked off the BCDD because of a high idle problem and I have never had a problem since. It does not affect the idle circuit at all.

BCDD means backfire control deceleration device but not an idle control unit.

^^^ It's technically called a BOOST Controlled Deceleration Device. :D

You yourself said it was likely his idle problem: https://www.zdriver.com/forums/showt...868#post306868

After you have checked all the possibilities i mentioned before and have no avail it has to be a bad BCDD valve. I'm almost sure it will be that. Good luck with it.

EDIT... FricFrac beat me to it. :D
