first find yourself a 6 speed tranny that came out of a 2+2.. the tranny for the 2 seater and 2 +2 are diffrent.. also your going to need to get a new driveshaft..youll also need a flywheel and a clutch pedal and clutch master and slave cylinder.. pretty much everything you can find at your local junk yard..

You'll be looking for a 5-speed, not a 6-speed. The transmissions are the same in the 2-seater and 2+2. But you will need a driveshaft from a 280ZX 2+2 that had a manual transmission. (79-83 will work for that) It is the clutch and flywheel that changes but it is just about contact width and spring strength in the clutch. You can actually use either one. 2+2 and turbo cars use the stronger clutch (and the pedal is harder to push), and the non-turbo 2-seater use the weaker clutch which is just fine for most appliations. I think the stronger clutch is overkill on the 2+2 non-turbo.

The gear ratios changed by year, but not by passenger capacity. Find one from 1977-79 Z to match the gear ratios you have. If you want higher gears, get a 1980-83 non-turbo 5-speed. (81-83 is the highest, 80 is a unique year with different gear ratios)

dont forget the pilot bushing that goes behind the drive shaft and to take off the flywheel spacer for your auto flywheel..

I did the auto to manual swap on my Datsun truck which is the same type of transmission. I was pulling parts from a parts truck so I had everything I needed.

Transmission
Clutch and flywheel (they are different)
Starter
Clutch master cylinder (on the truck, the mounting holes were already in the firewall, EZ!)
Pedals
Plate that goes around shifter handle had a different hole for the 5-speed
Shifter boot(s)
Driveshaft
Clutch slave cylinder, hose, and hard line from master cylinder

The torque increase will be amazing
