dam man, i think you can beat a honda with those numbers... good job:023:

Bleach 10-19-2008 12:24 PM

very nice! So this is your L-series turbo? wow, at first I thought it might be the RB26

snwbrderphat540 10-19-2008 01:16 PM

this is an L motor? if so good job i like... if its the RB.... go bigger. lol!

SHADY280 10-19-2008 04:30 PM

hmmm very nice. im just wondering like the rest which car it is??? could be many, i know its not your honduh!

lww 10-20-2008 03:47 AM

Alas, it is not my L-series motor. This is the 91 octane tune on my RB car. Yes, I could go WAY bigger, but with 255/40/17's, there's just not enough rubber on the road to make any more power useful. If you look at the torque curve, I'm at 95% of max torque by 3600 rpm. A 2nd gear roll-on will rip the street tires off and it'll still get completely squirrelly in a 3rd gear roll-on. 1st gear is nearly useless as any application of boost will get you no where VERY fast and VERY smokey.

Remember, with full interior, roll bar, power seats, AC, power windows, power locks, huge brakes, 17" wheels/tires and a TON of dynomat, this car still weighs less than 2600 lbs.

I still can't get over how smooth that horse power curve is... ummm... :D

280zx2by2 10-20-2008 06:30 AM

ahh lame just lame... make sure you get some magizine time with this car.. sounds very worthy of a front page review

SHADY280 10-20-2008 07:09 AM

how much did you do to the rb to get that number. i was thinking in the race car id put an rb in it and go kill everything on the track. my goal would be like yours. the guys there say im nutz!!! btw im sticking with the L series for now to gain valueble experience with less power.

Bleach 10-20-2008 11:06 AM

oh, I see. I saw you posted it in the 280ZX section so I figured it was the white ZX.

anyway, its a good build. Nice even power.
If only you had a 3.54 LSD... of course, even then you might have traction problems. Go make some crazy freeway racing videos now.. :) dont get killed though!

lww 10-20-2008 11:50 AM

It's got an R200 w/3.7 R&P and CLSD and it's still totally unmanageable at low speeds. Might have to go to a 3.56...

On the way to the ALMS races at Laguna Seca on Saturday, I smoked a brand new Dodge Challenger SRT-8 on the 101 headed to Monterey... :077:

duowing 10-20-2008 01:32 PM

I kinda thought the same as Bleach, but then again the 280ZX is like the section to post in. Wait...maybe LWW has a 280ZX with an RB in it that he isn't telling us about?

lww 10-20-2008 02:21 PM

No RB in the 280ZX... yet... :D, I just keep forgetting there are other forums on this board! :o

duowing 10-20-2008 02:41 PM

No, it's quite ok. We discussed this in the post whore thread. It's 280ZXDriver.com now.

snwbrderphat540 10-20-2008 04:31 PM

smoked an SRT-8 challenger... meh no big feat they arent that fast. you can do better

duowing 10-20-2008 05:27 PM

it doesn't help when they have the weight of nearly a minivan.
