after getting to know my Z

after getting to know my Z over the past week, ive noticed a few things about her. first off when its hot she runs like ****. doesent have the power she should. 2 she struggles and boggs in every gear at 2000 rpm or lower, she pulles the hardest between 3k and 4300 rpm. she dont like to rev past 5k when im in a gear very well. she has more power b4 5k when my most power is at 5200 rpms. but still even at 5k she pulls harder between 3k and 4300 rpms. my cam knocks a bit and when it boggs and struggles in the lower 2000 or less rpms it backfires some times. just wondering wat some of this could b caused by, and how i could fix it because i know its not good for it.

2,000 rpm is about as low as you want it before a down shift, any lower and your puting to much strain on motor, I have driven my 03 5 speed ranger since i got her off the lot in 03, i never go below 2,000. most power is it 3,500-4,500 then time to upshift. If it's an auto, throw her in 2nd or 1st if she don't want to down shift her self. Also keep an eye on trany fluid, man or auto

Y'know, when I got my Z, I had to change out almost everything to get her to run right. I have found thru the years that these cars are VERY vacuum sensitive, and VERY battery sensitive. More the former than the latter. Take an approach to it from the easiest thing to the hardest thing. You will eventually replace so many parts, that your Z will run like new...

your lifters have warnen down....try setting your valve lash 2mm more than stock setting ......this should fix your problem and ......give you that more power feeling you are looking for
