'82 cruise control...

Does anybody's cruise on their '79-'83 still work. I'm wondering what's up with mine. I have changed the column switches on my car (to get lights working right), but it didn't help the cruise. Also, my rear defrost doesn't work, and the rear wiper only works when it dry (DOH!)...

Anyways, give me somewhere to start and go and I'll get it figured out. I'm just not a big wiring guru (I'm a wiring gugu).

Thanks for all info

Carl

Yep, light goes on, but no cruise. It's not that I'll ever really use it that much, but it's just something that grates on me, ya know?!

Thanks for the help, Justun

Ok, I'll check that. I did replace a lot of hoses when I got the car almost 3 years ago, but may have missed that one.

Thanks, and I'll post the results...

On my car the deal on the brake pedal that pushes the button in(to turn off the cruise when you hit the brake) was not there so I took a door panel clip and stuck it in the hole, and it works fine. I think there is two buttons one for the cruise and one for the brake lights. Just make sure there is something in both holes to push in both buttons.

Yes, this was one of the things I had to take care of right off the bat, while I was re-wiring the rear lights and getting the brake lights going again. The previous owner had directly wired the rear turn signals to the headlights when the column switches went out for driving lights. Not even the right color. What a NOOB!!

There is also a relay under the passenger seat that is related to the cruise control. Sounds like yours works though, as the Cruise light will not come on if that relay is broken. The black box next to the relay under the seat is for your rear brake lights.

On my car, I replaced the two small canisters from a junk yard and replaced all the little hoses. The system still didnt' work! Then about 2 years later I decided to try it again and suddenly it kicked in and worked! Its been fine ever since. I rarely use it though...

But my A/C has never really worked.
